July Minutes 2024

Trustees of the Newton Public Library District met July 15, 2024 at 5:00 P.M.  Present were Travis Farley, Emily Carroll, Jennifer Hinterscher, Ilene Woods, Jeanette Hickox and Director Jacque Holsapple.

President Farley called the meeting to order.

Minutes of the June meeting were reviewed and will stand as presented.

The June fiscal year-end financial report was reviewed.  Bills were presented.  president Farley made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Trustee Hickox, motion passed.

Director’s Report

Discussed updating web hosting services to comply with ADA requirements.  This was tabled to collect more information.

They had approximately 109 in attendance at the library end of summer party at the Newton Aquatic Center.

There were approximately 7 adults in attendance for Painting with Tia on July 11 at the library.

The book sale will be held the week of July 22-27.

New Business

The Resolution Authorizing Tax Abatement within the Enterprise Zone was discussed.  Trustee Woods made a motion to approve the resolution, seconded by Trustee Hinterscher, motion passed.

The Mango Language application that is available to all patrons was discussed.  Trustee Woods made a motion to renew the Mango Language Application for the year, seconded by Trustee Carroll, motion passed.

Director Holsapple expressed a need for a webcam in order to be able to attend meetings via Zoom more effectively.  Trustee Woods made a motion to accept the quote for a webcam, seconded by President Farley, motion passed.

Director Holsapple made the trustees aware that she is working to complete information for the Illinois Public Library Report.

The next board meeting is August 19, 2024 at 5 p.m.
